After Graduating at York College I have started a Masters Degree at Sunderland University studying at The National Glass Centre , I take Commissions and exhibit at Arts Fairs and Festivals.
Drawing and exploring the ideas , photos and inspiration from nature, museums galleries and sketching. I make clay and wax models using lost wax casting and open faced casting to make the objects. I sketch and keep notes of the things I see and look for both forms and surface textures as well as ideas. From the models I make casting moulds and fire them in a kiln. I have a studio at home an I'm going to Sunderland University to Study an MA in Glass.
Drawing and thinking .. I draw what I see and imagine. Influenced by Contemporary art and archaeology and found/ discovered objects and places. I went to Cardiff and Dublin: to the National Museums to look at ancient craft and found themes of divine water, boundary markers and totems. In Dublin I met with National Museum staff and looked at artifacts from earliest Ireland, 'Celtic' Ireland much of which is abstract design. This is where I discovered artifacts that depict lunula shapes -the circles and crescents of sun and moon worship.
